Now admittedly, a decent number of Americans (at least among those old enough to remember him) might not be too fond of Charles de Gaulle, but in light of the Sarkozy Holocaust flap Roger Kaplan makes the case that both men were very special. Particularly for Frenchmen. ;)

Ending Tradition, NBC Dismisses Fall Debuts

Not exactly Earth-shattering news, but still, it’s the end of an era. NBC does for its own prime-time line-up what it’s done for the SciFi Channel — going to a year-round season — proving that new (or at least newer) media is yet again changing the shape of old.
