Conservative Talk

"[I]f circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude, that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little if at all inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their rights and those of their fellow citizens. Comment

R. Emmett Tyrrell’s new book, The Clinton Crack-Up, posits that what is really shaping up is the final, defining clash of the Baby Boomers: Goldwater kids versus flower children. Only one side can win. And they’ll take the future of the country with them.

Czech President tells Congress: Environmentalism has replaced Communism as threat to freedom

Vaclev Klaus — by far the most pro-free market head of state in the world — points out the awful truth. He does not mention (at least in this report) that when the Soviet Union fell, former murderous dictator Mikhail Gorbachev immediately took up leadership of a global environmental organization (note his “credentials” for this: presiding over the single most anti-environmental government on Earth). But he should have. Modern environmentalism is a watermelon: green on the outside but red all the way through.
