My message to TheVanguard.Org’s membership: we’re fed up, and we’re going to do some very specific not-taking-it-anymore. Read on.

Realignment? Not Even.

By the Numbers… (Stephen Spruiell)

…Republican pollster Ed Goeas said that the losses we saw last night are average for mid-term elections, particularly mid-term elections in a time of war. He also said, “One of the things that is different from 1994, is that in 1994 when Republicans won 56 House seats, all but a handful were won by a range of 10 or more percent. Last night if you look at the election, of those 28 House seats, 22 were won by 2 percent or less — 22 of the 28. And of those, 18 were won by less than 5,000 votes, and four of those by less than a thousand votes.” Later he went over the numbers again, and concluded, “In other words you can basically go back and say that we lost control of Congress by 11 seats. You’re talking about less than 50,000 votes.”

“The Republicans”

Published by Rod D. Martin November 8th, 2006 filed under Conservatism, Activism, Election 2006, GOP, GOP Record, Rod D. Martin, Election 2008, TheVanguard.Org

Comments

A friend of mine makes the following good point, and my response is important enough to make public:

The GOP deserves what they got (sorry Rod) - they moved to the middle and got caught in the act.

No, the GOP leadership deserves what they got. But in case you haven’t noticed, you and I are the GOP, and we most definitely did NOT deserve — nor did many good men and women like Michael Steele deserve — what we got.

The conservative majority was in evidence last night, as 7 of 8 marriage amendments passed, and as most of the Democrats who won ran as conservatives. The only people who have not realized America has a serious conservative majority who wants to see solid, serious conservative change are the leaders like Denny Hastert and Ken Mehlman who are still trying to fight the last war (no, two wars ago) and “run to the middle”.

Well, they’re going to get to run home today.

We have been laying the groundwork to replace them for a long time, with efforts like NFRA (not moving as quickly as we’d like) and TheVanguard.Org (beginning to pick up a tremendous head of steam). We’re going to need all they can do now, and then some. Remember: “the Republicans” aren’t the issue, because we are the Republicans. The Republican leaders are the issue. And it is time for them to go.

Voters Stomp out Tax Hikes in California, Missouri

Published by Rod D. Martin November 8th, 2006 filed under Election 2006, Tax Reform, Economics, Rod D. Martin, TheVanguard.Org

Comments

While conservative Democrats were winning races on tax cut platforms, voters were rejecting higher taxes on the ballot. In California, two major tax increases, one on cigarettes and the other on oil production were defeated and in Missouri, a measure to raise the tax on cigarettes was also defeated.

Ms. Pelosi better hear the call, or she won’t be Speaker very long.
