From “revenues” to “redeploy”, the left is quietly inventing a new language to promote their agenda. It is a language quite common now in Washington and in liberal political circles, and it’s designed to substitute softer or neutral words for harsher ones with political implications. It is a language of euphemism and, at times, deception.

Homosexuals were on their strongest ground when they said that the law had no business interfering with relations between consenting adults. Now they want the law to put a seal of approval on their behavior. But no one is entitled to anyone else’s approval.

And the rationale for “straight” marriage has nothing to with approval at all.

Tuesday and Thursday. On Tuesday, anti-Iraq war candidate Ned Lamont beat Sen. Joseph Lieberman in Connecticut’s Democratic primary. On Thursday, British authorities arrested more than 20 British Muslims who were plotting to blow up American airliners over the Atlantic Ocean.

Tuesday was a victory for the angry antiwar Left that set the tone in the Democrats’ 2003-04 presidential cycle and seems likely to set the tone again in 2007-08. Thursday was another matter entirely.
