Even the UN Says the NIE is Wrong

Published by Rod D. Martin February 26th, 2008 filed under WMDs, Iran, War on Terror, Rod D. Martin, TheVanguard.Org

Comments

Iran, of course, dismisses the nuke documents as fakes, as will MoveOn and the State Department. But you know, when even the UN is saying it, sheesh.

Ethanol Produces More Polution Than Gasoline

Published by Rod D. Martin April 18th, 2007 filed under Technology, Environment, Energy, George W. Bush, Rod D. Martin, Iran, TheVanguard.Org

Comments

So says a new study from Stanford: it projects that ethanol, if used in every U.S. vehicle, would actually produce more ground-level ozone and cause more respiratory-related health problems than gas.

Are We Men or Mice?

Published by Charles Gordon April 2nd, 2007 filed under Culture War, Democrats, Culture, Islam, Charles Gordon, Iran, Foreign Policy/National Security, GOP, Conservatism, Defense Policy, War on Terror, Election 2008

Are we men or mice?

That’s the obvious question that arises with Iran’s latest shenanigans.

Ok, so the mullahs didn’t seize Americans — this time it was the Brits.

And one can argue that the Brits, by stripping down their Navy and whining about even the most modest attempts by Tony Blair to be courageous, set themselves up for this.

But what exactly have we done to stand up to Iran over the past quarter century?

For the most part, nothing. (continue reading post »)

The President’s Speech: Out of the Park

Published by Rod D. Martin January 10th, 2007 filed under George W. Bush, Democrats, Iraq, Iran, Foreign Policy/National Security, Rod D. Martin, War on Terror, TheVanguard.Org

Comments

The President dramatically put to rest many conservatives’ fears tonight that he might follow the worst recommendations of the Surrender-Everything-Now, er, Iraq Study Group:  he means to win.  And so do we.

Beef Up The Troops

Published by Rod D. Martin November 29th, 2006 filed under George W. Bush, Iraq, Iran, War on Terror, Rod D. Martin, Defense Policy, TheVanguard.Org

Arnaud de Borchgrave’s too-pessimistic assessment of the situation in Iraq today suggests that increasing troop strength in Iraq would necessitate Charlie Rangel’s draft (which he ironically states would be killed by the Democrat Congress, as if Republicans never — much less routinely — voted down Rangel’s bill in years past).  This is just wrong.  But perhaps more to the point, the Administration is wrong not to do it, and here’s why.

THIS WEEK - My column on the new leadership in a Democratic Senate; plus, Jack Wheeler’s CNP speech on “Imploding Iran”, Larry Kudlow on Democrats’ Pay-Go trap, Thomas Sowell on the growing liberal crackdown on free speech, plus much much more.

Jack Wheeler: Imploding Iran

Published by Rod D. Martin October 15th, 2006 filed under Foreign Policy/National Security, Iran, War on Terror, Defense Policy, Rod D. Martin, Activism, TheVanguard.Org

My friend Jack Wheeler — the architect of the Reagan Doctrine and one of TheVanguard.Org’s board members — gave this speech on Friday at our Council for National Policy meeting. CNP has been described by the NEA leadership and by the New York Times as the coordinating body of the entire conservative movement, and its role in enabling and implementing Reagan’s policies in the last decade of the Cold War was immense. Jack’s comments now, as then, could well change the course of the world. They certainly should.

Our latest newsletter is up, with my take on the Foley scandal (Republicans need to go on offense — now — on this and everything else); plus Jack Wheeler’s astonishing analysis of the North Korean nuke fiasco and what it means for us, Larry Kudlow’s reality check on the economy, more Jack Wheeler (specifically, an account of his just-completed trip behind enemy lines with the Peshmerga in Iran), and a special treat: Thomas Sowell’s lengthy but brilliant essay on the dangerous frivolity of the current political debate. You won’t want to miss a bit of it.

Dr. Jack Wheeler: “The Kurdish Key to the Middle East, Part II: With the Peshmerga”

Published by Rod D. Martin October 3rd, 2006 filed under Iraq, Iran, War on Terror, Rod D. Martin, TheVanguard.Org

My experience inside Iran with the RUK guerillas convinced me that there are Kurds willing to fight for real freedom. Such folks need to be supported. Upon my return to Arbil/Hewler, I learned that while I was dodging mullah mortars with Kurdish Peshmerga inside Iran, at that very time on Saturday, September 30, President George Bush was signing into law the Iran Freedom and Support Act.

It’s not just the invertebrates of the State Department allergic to regime change in principal - it’s even astute folks like Charles Krauthammer and Fred Barnes who say on Fox News they don’t know of an alternative to the only choices they see: militarily attack Iran or capitulate to the Mullacracy and make the best deal we can.
