-- Charlton Heston

It’s May Day

Published by Rod D. Martin May 1st, 2007 filed under Communism, Rod D. Martin, TheVanguard.Org

Comment

It’s always worth remembering the other side’s holidays: there’s a lot to be learned when you do. Today, among other things, is the high holy day of Communists and other Socialists throughout the world. A little examination is in order.

Czech President tells Congress: Environmentalism has replaced Communism as threat to freedom

Published by Rod D. Martin March 21st, 2007 filed under Environment, Al Gore, Communism, Economics, Rod D. Martin, TheVanguard.Org

Comments

Vaclev Klaus — by far the most pro-free market head of state in the world — points out the awful truth. He does not mention (at least in this report) that when the Soviet Union fell, former murderous dictator Mikhail Gorbachev immediately took up leadership of a global environmental organization (note his “credentials” for this: presiding over the single most anti-environmental government on Earth). But he should have. Modern environmentalism is a watermelon: green on the outside but red all the way through.

Many others have said plenty about Gerald Ford’s virtues, and I certainly concur with them.  But perhaps the most interesting thing to note about Ford is that he was the last RINO President; or more precisely, the last Rockefeller Republican.

THIS WEEK - My column on “Evangelicals at the Crossroads”, an examination of Christians’ place in American life and necessary relationship (in both directions) with the Republican Party. Bottom line: turn out on Tuesday or lose more than you’re prepared to pay. Plus: an Action Alert on the PBA ban; Newt Gingrich and Ann Coulter give pre-election analysis; Pat Poole on the large Muslim contributions to help Dems; the word on Justice Stevens’ health; Marvin Olasky’s look at the cost of abandoning our promises in Iraq (and other places past); and Jack Wheeler on the hope for Islam represented by Indonesia and the danger to us all from the Chinese infiltration and soon-to-be takeover of Siberia.

Think the efforts of certain Latino radicals to reabsorb the American Southwest into Mexico are scary? Well check out what China and its state-sponsored illegal immigrants into Siberia are doing. Russia is imploding, and the Chinese are ready.

Marvin Olasky: Hungary, Iraq & Shredding Machines

Comments

Iraqis have endured oppression for decades. They now face the prospect of more tyranny unless the United States stays the course (and even if we do, success is likely to be fleeting). Many Americans are tired of hearing about Iraq, but are we ready to insert our earplugs when those who have trusted in us plead for help as terrorists brutally attack them?

Phyllis Schlafly writes the grim story of freedom crushed but not extinguished.

In October we commemorate the 50th anniversary of one of history’s most momentous events. With hindsight, we can now see that the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 started the unraveling of Soviet communism that finally came to pass in 1991.
