Conservative Talk

"The Constitution preserves the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation... (where) the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."

So You Thought She Was Out, Did You?

Published by Rod D. Martin March 5th, 2008

Well, you shouldn’t have.

As I’ve been telling anyone who would listen for weeks now, Hillary Clinton isn’t going anywhere.

And why would she? Everyone keeps saying it’s mathematically impossible for her to win the nomination on elected delegates, but the same is very much true for Obama (and was before Ohio and Texas).

The fact that you don’t hear it said that way is partly because the media keeps focusing on something the Democrat Party clearly doesn’t care about — the popular vote in the states Obama’s won, which has been highly diluted by their insane proportional representation scheme and by their legion of unelected superdelegates.

Oh, and you also don’t hear that “Obama can’t win” because the media is in love with him. He’s the choice of the radical MoveOn left, and virtually every network and newspaper reporter in sight is a card-carrying member. Just ask Saturday Night Live. Hillary, to these people, is too conservative.

Which ought to tell you everything you need to know about Obama. But I digress.

No, the fact is that this year’s Democrat nominee will be chosen in several smoke-filled rooms by unelected party elders. Nothing can change that, except the possibility of court action forcing the DNC to seat the Hillary delegates from Florida and Michigan (which would be horribly wrong, but that’s not the point). And throw into the mix Hillary’s stated plan to go after Obama’s elected delegates too (something few realize is even possible) and, barring a grand alliance, this nomination is likely to drag out until the end of August.

Should she drop out, “for the sake of the party”? No more than Obama should; and a lot less than Hillary’s husband should have resigned the Presidency “for the good of the party” ten years ago, when plenty of the same people were saying the same things and pronouncing the usual epitaphs.

Folks, these are Clintons we’re talking about. They’re not going away. That was true before last night. It’s a lot truer now. And you still aren’t safe betting too heavily against her, for either the nomination or the Presidency itself.

  1. The Clintons have played dirty before–what’s stopping them now? I’ve come to believe that playing dirty has become so much the norm for them, that to be fair, they are only doing what they believe to be true and fair….for the good of the party, of course :) And they say Republicans are the elitists…..

  2. It is just strange how the media keeps counting her out, since we do all know the Bill will do anything to become First Lady.
Too many Democrats owe the Clintons, and it is going to be kind of odd for these insiders, Super Delegates, to explain their votes for Hillary when Obama did so well in the vote count.
It is also very strange that Hillary is considered Conservative, when she is definetly a Liberal.

  3. Hillary is extremely tenacious and she is going to keep on fighting until she is completely outgunned and the Democrats figure out what to do with Michigan and Florida. Hillary is absolutely not going to stop fighting so that she can be President until they slam the door shut in her face.

  4. I never counted Hillary out. I understand the rationale behind conservatives wanting to strengthen her hand, but it’s a risky game. The end could be Hillary in the White House.

    Enough said.
